Rev. R. Alexander Fortson
Alex Fortson grew up in Alabama and moved to Northern New England to serve as the district’s Youth Alive Missionary. He has been in ministry for eight years, including seven years as a youth pastor at the church he grew up in. He and his wife, Madisyn, are blessed with three children - Scarlett (3), Asher (2), and Elliott (3 months). They are incredibly grateful and honored to be serving in this district.
Madison Kingsley grew up as a pastor’s kid, where she witnessed firsthand the beauty of a life devoted to Christ. Through her parents’ example, she experienced the love of Jesus not only taught but truly lived out. This shaped in her a deep love for the Church and a desire to see others become fully devoted followers of Him.
That calling continued to grow as she pursued her education at Southeastern University, graduating in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Children, Youth, and Family Ministry and a Bachelor of Arts in Worship Ministry. She is currently pursuing a Master of Practical Theology in Pastoral Leadership.
Today, Madison serves as the Next Steps Pastor at Restoration Church, where she has the joy of walking alongside people as they encounter Jesus and take meaningful steps toward transformation.
Looking ahead, Madison desires to faithfully serve wherever God leads, continuing to invest in the local church, raise up others in their calling, and be part of seeing lives changed for His glory.
Born and raised in Georgia, Travis grew up with sweet tea in his veins and a strange taste in Sports Teams. He remains a devoted fan of the Atlanta Falcons, the Cleveland Guardians, and the Toronto Raptors, a combination that has prepared him well for ministry, as he has long understood what it means to hope for things not yet seen.
At the age of 16, he was called into ministry at Summer Camp, which is why if you're reading this, you should send your students to summer camp. In 2010, after hearing of the need in Maine, Vermont, and New Hampshire, he answered the call of God and relocated to Northern New England. Trading warm winters for something the locals cheerfully call "character building" required genuine faith. In 2013, Travis stepped into ministry as Youth Pastor of Centerpoint Community Church, where his heart for the next generation truly began to flourish. It was during this season that God blessed him when he met his wife, Erin. The two were married in 2015, and she has been his greatest partner in life and ministry ever since. In 2023, he and Erin welcomed their son, Noah, into the world.
In December of 2018, Travis accepted the role of District Youth Director, expanding his reach and influence for young people across the region. He has the pleasure to partner with so many great youth leaders and churches as they further the mission of God in Northern New England. Over the past sixteen years, Travis has been deeply blessed to call Northern New England home and to serve alongside so many incredible leaders and churches throughout the district. Through every season, the heartbeat of his ministry has remained the same: a deep burden for the Next Generation and a passion for empowering young people to live missionally wherever God has planted them. He is honored and humbled to stand before you today, grateful for the grace of God and the people who have shaped him along the way.
Timothy Varney pastors Illuminate Church in Brewer, Maine, a church he and his wife, Cindy, planted in 2023. Timothy was born in Bangor, Maine, and is an AG pastor’s kid. When he turned 18, he joined the United States Air Force, serving for 20 years until his retirement in 2022. Timothy met Cindy in Utah, and they married in 2006. They were told they would never have children, but God gave them Grace (2010), and Samuel (2012), while they were living in Texas. Timothy and Cindy served as small group pastors at Journey Church AG in Minot, North Dakota from 2018 to 2022. Besides leading Illuminate Church, Timothy and Cindy have a deep passion for encouraging pastors. Both of them are excited to be part of the NNED, and for this new battlefield God has called them to. The best is yet to come!
